FC Amkar is the biggest football club in the city of Perm – a region located in the Volga district – that in the last years reached the top venue of the Russian Superleague.
FC Amkar is a relatively young club, founded in 1994, but it already reached the Russian Cup final in 2008 and played the UEFA preliminary round the following year.
The Zvesda Stadium, with a capacity of 20,000 seats, was one of the first facility installing an artificial turf surface for official games of the Russian SuperLeague (year 2005).
