The launch event was attended on the 28th of November by the AFC President, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FA Thailand President Police General Somyot Poompanmoung and President of Bangkok Thonburi University Dr Bangon Benjathikul.
The AFC is bringing ahead its AFC Mini Pitch Scheme – an initiative whose aim is to install mini pitch facilities for football development and technical centers and growup the game of football wherever possible.
Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the AFC President, said: “I am delighted that the AFC can concretely support FA Thailand’s grassroots and community football through the AFC Mini-Pitch Scheme. Access to top class facilities is a challenge in many Member Associations and these pitches will bring the joy of football to children and adults, to girls and boys and women and men, across Asia.”
Limonta Sport has been selected as AFC Mini Pitch Partner at the end of 2014 – developing projects together with the AFC and local Mas all over Asia (Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Lao, Kirgizstan, DPR Korea, Guam, etc..) and giving its contribution to the development of football facilities in the Region.
The construction of the AFC mini-pitch in Bangkok began in summer. The playing surface is an artificial turf system studied to guarantee the highest durability during intense usage activities; The facility has been equipped with lighting masts, allowing for training and matches in the evenings.
